A spacious bathroom, part of a four-room flat on the sixth floor of a residential building in the city of Plovdiv, which was initially with gypsum plaster and cement screed according to the Bulgarian State Standard. Here we pay attention to the bathroom, which walls were with gypsum plaster before tiling, and this is a serious issue that we resolved. Why? Because the gypsum plaster does not have the necessary properties for a reliable interaction with the tile adhesive. Therefore, we removed the gypsum plaster from the bathroom walls and replaced it with lime-cement plaster and ground coat.
The project assignment was implementation of water and sewerage installation, electrical installation, gypsum plaster removal, laying lime-cement plaster, ceiling flattening, hydro-insulation of the floor and shower area walls, gluing tiles with joints of 1 mm and bathroom furniture. For the external angles of the tiles on the walls and the threshold of the shower area we used Gerung or 45 degrees with no tile trim. A small but extremely important detail were the two types of tiles – smooth and rough, and the connection between them that we created. The smooth tiles on the left and right wall we laid in advance, and the rough tiles – after that, as the internal angle is always important.
